National Adoption Month...The Month of Gratitude!

Today is November 1st.  Today is the first day of National Adoption Awarness Month.  Today is the first day of our month of Gratitude.  Today is the first day of our Charity Auction to honor National Adoption Month.  We are so excited and LOVE the month of November! 

So lets talk about all these amazing things that are going on this month! 

 National Adoption Month:
"In 1976, the governor of Massachusetts, Michael Dukakis, announced an Adoption Week for his state. Later that same year President Gerald Ford proclaimed that Adoption Week would be celebrated nationally. According to Child Welfare Information Gateway, President Reagan proclaimed the first National Adoption Week in 1984. As more and more states started to participate in Adoption Week it became clear that more time was needed for holding events and in 1995, President Clinton, proclaimed November as National Adoption Month.


The celebration usually includes National Adoption Day with courthouses throughout the nation participating and hundreds of adoptions being finalized simultaneously.

National Adoption Month is a time to celebrate family and to bring about awareness that there are hundreds of thousands of children in foster homes awaiting adoption. States, communities, and agencies hold events during the month to bring the need for families into public view."  {read article here}

BIB loves the month of November and the tradition of National Adoption Month.  It gives us a chance to not only support the AMAZING birthmoms that we love and adore and serve every day...but a chance to bring recognition to those involved with adoption on ALL SIDES...including foster care, open/closed/semi open adoptive families, all birth parents, the agencies and so many more!  If it wasn't for all thousands and thousands of people that support this incredible cause each year then I {Ashley, found of BIB} would NOT be where I am today...my son would NOT have the home and the life that he has, I would NOT be able to offer support to ALL the birthmoms that I come in contact with on a daily basis...I love the life that has been presented to me and I know that a HUGE part of that has come from ADOPTION.  I am so grateful to all of you that support adoption on some level, large or small...it ALL makes a difference!! 

Month of Gratitude:
Not only is it National Adoption Month but it is the month of Thanksgiving and I know that all of our hearts are so full and so grateful for ALL OUR MANY BLESSINGS.  BIB is challenging all of you to post ONE thing a day for THE WHOLE MONTH of November that you are grateful for.  It can be big or small..post it to your website, blog, facebook, twitter...WHATEV.  Just post one thing a day for November.

Charity Auction in honor of National Adoption Month:
BIB is so excited to be hosting our 1st Annual Online Charity Auction in honor of National Adoption Month.  We have had so many amazing things donated to us this year and are thrilled to announce that all winning bids will be going back to all the Big Tough Girls of BIB to offer them more love and support through retreats, support groups, life coaching and of course our baskets. 

The auction runs from November 1st-17th and the winners will be announced the 18th and the 19th.  ANY ONE can come and bid...{all winning bids will be a tax deductible donation}
